FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- How is the CPAP PRO system different from CPAP masks?
Invented by a severe sleep apnea patient who could not stand the traditional CPAP masks on the market, CPAP PRO was designed to overcome his own personal CPAP usage problems. Unlike engineers from huge respiratory companies that design masks, but never have had to endure the torture of use, CPAP PRO has been used nightly by the inventor for more than 10 years, continuously being improved to maximize his own personal comfort. Without annoying straps or headgear, CPAP PRO makes the use of CPAP more tolerable by eliminating the pain, sores and claustrophobic panic feelings of conventional CPAP breathing devices and CPAP machines. Additionally, CPAP PRO is much lighter weight than traditional face masks and its design minimizes skin contact so that it is far easier to forget that it is there and sleep comfortably.
- Are the Nasal Puffs one size fits all?
The CPAP PRO ships with standard size Nasal Puffs. The standard size Nasal Puffs will fit the majority of users. Small and Large pillows are also available as a custom option.
- Does CPAP PRO have exhalation holes?
Directly under the nasal puffs on each tube there is an exhalation hole. These holes are surrounded by a unique foam ring with millions of microscopic air holes. The exhaled air is silently diffused through these foam rings without blowing into your face.
- What is a Boil 'n Bite Mouthpiece?
Similar to a sports mouthpiece used by athletes, the CPAP PRO is customized to your exact dental configuration in just minutes right at home. Once formed the CPAP PRO will comfortably snap on to your upper teeth and stay in place throughout sleep. Since the upper teeth always stay in perfect relationship with the nose, you can sleep in any position and all the nasal components stay in place eliminating the leaks, the skin irritation and sleepless nights!
- How long will it take me to become comfortable with CPAP PRO?
Most patients report that the first night using our CPAP PRO is like a dream come true. They tell us they have an easier time falling asleep, sleep better and wake up completely refreshed. For other patients, it may take several nights or weeks to completely get used to CPAP PRO.
- What if I open my mouth during sleep?
Even if you open your mouth the CPAP PRO mouthpiece will stay affixed to your upper teeth... it is not necessary to bite down on the mouthpiece throughout the night. Many patients report that with CPAP PRO they no longer open their mouth during sleep. If necessary a simple chinstrap will be needed... CPAP PRO with a chinstrap still will be far more comfortable than any other mask or interface.
- Must the CPAP hose go downward towards my chest? I prefer that it go over my head like some other nasal interfaces.
With CPAP PRO, you can place the hose and tubes in any direction you prefer: over your head, down towards your chest... and even to the right or left side... the choice is yours to maximize your comfort!
- Will CPAP PRO® work with my existing CPAP or BiPap machine? What is recommended maximum pressure?
CPAP PRO works with all cpap and bipap systems. Each individual is different, however we have patients using CPAP PRO at pressures in the 18-20 range with good results!
- Do I have to bite down on the mouthpiece all night long to keep it in place?
No, once you prepare your Boil 'n Bite mouthpiece , it will comfortably snap on to your upper teeth and stay in place without the need to bite down on it. With just a little downward pressure, you can easily remove the mouthpiece from your upper teeth.
- Should everyone use a Boil 'n Bite mouthpiece? What about if I wear dentures?
Patients with serious dental problems should consult with their dentist before utilizing CPAP PRO. Since CPAP PRO snaps on to the patient's upper teeth, in certain cases it can be used with removable dentures if you can leave your upper dentures in place during sleep. Additionally, patients that are sensitive to hot foods, liquids or are emotionally concerned about this technique should not use the boil 'n bite fitting procedure, but should consult with their dentist to discuss the preparation of a customized CPAP PRO dental mouthpiece. DirectHomeMedical has FREE CPAP PRO Dental Kits available for patients who request them with a complete CPAP PRO mask pack purchase.
- How does CPAP PRO provide a better night's sleep?
With severe skin irritation, annoying leakage and the need to constantly tighten straps, it is almost impossible for the patient to reach essential "REM" sleep with conventional masks. By eliminating these annoyances with CPAP PRO, our patients tell us they're sleeping more comfortably and more soundly and waking up refreshed.

I have used CpapPRO "No Mask" for over eight years. I never tried any other device and recommend the CpapPRO to everyone I know that has sleep apnea and uses a CPAP machine.

The mask was exactly as advertised and at a great price. Fast delivery and a great price. What else could you ask for?

Not really a mask. Does not give me that smothered feeling that typical CPAP gear gave me. Allows for easier movement while sleeping. The I would highly recommend this product to anyone who uses CPAP.
Not worth the money

I tried it but was disappointed. It would not stay once I went to sleep and turned. I would wake up several times a night to adjust it.
Making a difference

Originally I used the face mask that includes straps and headgear. It worked ok until the straps began to make marks on my face. Then is used a headband under the straps to compensate for the moisture. A friend told me about the C Pap Pro. As with anything new, it took a little time get used to it. I started rotating it in with my nights of face straps. After a about two weeks, I went totally C Pap Pro. I sleep better as I am not messing with straps, head bands and repositioning everything. The mouthpiece lasted about 6 months before the gel piece popped out of the plastic piece. It actually makes it easy to clean but after 6 months, I just ordered another one. I really prefer the cpap pro and it really makes the difference.

Worked the best for me.

Started with nasal style system and used for 4 years then saw an ad on TV so tried it and used now for several years and for me has been really great. I agree with comment that the tubes need to be improved and have had to replace them three or four times a year and are a little expensive.

CPAP pro is great. Easy to set up and very comfortable to wear. My only complaint is the you cannot specify the nasal pillow size when you order. So, if standard is too small, you have to pay extra to get the correct size.

Have the patience to get it properly adjusted and you will even use it for short naps. It is comfortable, not cumbersome, and interferes very little with sleep when properly adjusted. Only problem that can be a disadvantage is that the tubes tend to split after too much strain and then leak. It takes about 10 minutes to repair and you are back to sleep. I find this happens about every six weeks, but it is a small problem that is far outweighed by the positives. I would suggest that you practice a tube replacement before you need to do it in the middle of the night. If you are physically unable to do the job, due to lack of strength or a physical impairment, have an emergency set up to use until you get it fixed.
