Description

UV LIGHT DESTROYS 99% OF GERMS & BACTERIA
The Lumin CPAP Mask and Accessory Cleaner uses a specialized UV Light, similar to those found in hospital operating rooms and sterile clean rooms, to disinfect your sleep therapy equipment. Proven in uses worldwide, UV light is safe and effective with no harmful chemicals, and no harsh abrasives or liquids. In just a few minutes Lumin will kill up to 99% of the harmful bacteria, pathogens and fungi on your CPAP masks and accessories that can cause infection and illness.

EASY, QUICK & EFFECTIVE DAILY CLEANING
Don't wait 2 or more hours for your CPAP Mask to be clean, Lumin can do it in just a few minutes! With the touch of a button Lumin begins a 5 minute disinfection cycle that thoroughly disinfects equipment in the cleaning drawer without any chemical residues or lingering smells. When Lumin is done it will beep to let you know that the cycle is finished and your items can be removed from the device. (Yes, it is that simple!)

COMPATIBLE WITH ALL CPAP MASKS
Lumin is compatible with all brands of CPAP and BiPAP masks and accessories. Simply slide out the machine's polished aluminum cleaning drawer, place your equipment inside, and you're ready to go! To ensure user safety, Lumin has a built in shutoff mechanism that automatically turns the UV light off whenever the cleaning drawer is opened.

GREAT FOR NON-CPAP ITEMS AS WELL
The Lumin is a great cleaning device so don't limit it to CPAP masks and accessories. Lumin can safely and quickly disinfect a variety of other household and medical products -- including dentures, hearing aids, toothbrushes, cellphones, and more.

SAVE MONEY: NO REPLACEMENT PARTS OR FILTERS REQUIRED!
Unlike other CPAP Sanitizers, 3B's Lumin doesn't require any ongoing maintenance, adapters, filters or replacement parts. If the exterior or interior of the unit gets dirty it can be wiped down with a soft cloth; but beyond that your Lumin should never require any upkeep. The UV bulb inside the Lumin is designed to last for the lifetime of the device; however if it ever needs to be replaced extra bulbs are available.

USAGE TIPS: While the Lumin will sanitize and disinfect CPAP equipment and other items from harmful bacteria, it will not remove any physical debris left on items put inside the device. It is recommended to wipe items clean before using the Lumin to ensure the item is thoroughly cleaned. The Lumin device will sanitize the surface of items only. As a result, it will not sanitize items such as hoses, the inside of nasal pillows, or dual flap cushions as adequately as needed. It is recommended to clean these items regularly and replace as directed to ensure clean, effective therapy.

^frequently asked questions~
  • How Does Lumin Work?
Lumin works by emitting high energy light within a narrow spectrum referred to as UV-C. The Lumin relies on a high-quality germicidal lamp designed to produce the highest amounts of UV radiation - where 90% of energy is generated around 254nm. This radiation is very close to the peak of the germicidal effectiveness curve of 265nm, the most lethal wave to microorganisms. The dose of UV-C emitted in one 5 minute cycle is sufficient to kill most bacteria and mold on a surface. The use of UV-C is environmentally friendly, leaves no residue or toxic gases or chemicals. UV-C systems are currently in use to disinfect ambulances, emergency service vehicles, and other high touch areas. (You can download a Technical White Paper from the Resources section of this page.)
  • Why doesn't the Lumin use Ozone, like other CPAP cleaners?
Because 3B Medical is a manufacturer of CPAP equipment, masks, and accessories, they have a heightened level of commitment and concern for our patients. 3B did not feel that the safety concerns of ozone being used in the home were being adequately disclosed. Due to the lifestyles of many patients, 3B also had concerns that the two hour wait period in using CPAP equipment might be ignored and harmful ozone inhaled. The U.S. EPA published a serious warning about the use of ozone in a home environment: EPA Report: Ozone Generators that are Sold as Air Cleaners. For that reason, in designing the Lumin, care was taken to find the safest and fastest way to disinfect CPAP accessories. UV-C was by far the best solution.
  • Why should I disinfect my mask and water chamber?<
Moisture left in your mask or humidifier becomes a breeding ground for bacteria, germs, and mold. Keeping your CPAP mask and humidifier free of harmful germs and bacteria helps avoid getting sick from a dirty CPAP.
  • Are there any supplies that need to be reordered?
No. The Lumin requires no replacement supplies whatsoever. The Lumin relies on a special germicidal UV-C bulb that is rated for 9,000 hours. Considering that the Lumin cycle is only 5 minutes, daily use of the device would require a total of 5.5 hours a month. In other words, the light source in the Lumin should easily outlast the life of the device and should not require changing. In the event, the bulb is damaged replacement bulbs are available.
  • How do I use the Lumin?
The Lumin is a single button device. It really could not be any easier. First wipe the inside of your mask and cushion with a wipe to remove any physical residue. If disinfecting your humidifier water chamber, open the chamber and place in the drawer face up. If disinfecting your mask, lay your mask in the drawer face up. Close the drawer and press the button. In 5 minutes the cycle is complete and your mask and water chamber are ready for use. Because UV-C disinfection involves light waves, it operates in "line of sight" fashion, only irradiating surfaces within its sightlines. If there is heightened need for disinfection, the mask can be disassembled or a second cycle used after flipping the object over. For general daily use, only one cycle is necessary.
  • Will Lumin damage my CPAP mask or accessories?
No. While long exposure times to UVC can weaken plastics and silicone, the Lumin cycle time is only 5 minutes. One year of daily use amounts to 30 hours of actual exposure time. In accelerated aging tests, 3B has validated no damage to plastics or silicone in over 150 hours of testing, roughly equivalent to 5 years of daily use.

  • SoClean vs Lumin

I have a SoClean 2 and it is a great machine, no doubt, but I like the fact that I don;t need to change filters or get special adapters for the new Lumin. Also I use it for my phone and the kids ipads which get sooooo gross!

  • Lumin Cleaner

The Lumin cleaner is simple to use and it leaves my mask, my water container, and other items feeling really clean and fresh. I use it on my phone too and our ipad mini. I was nervous at first, but it worked.
