DirectHomeMedical Customer Product Reviews
For nighttime readers
Written By: Shyster, Michigan 2/23/2017
Works well and unlike similar masks permits comfortable use of glasses for those of us who read at bedtime. Make certain strap goes on after glasses, not before. Could really use a simpler connector at the mask. Lighter, thinner straps would also improve the outfit. For those that have trouble with the mask, either with leaks or comfort, you've likely picked too small a size.

Out of two full face mask and four pillow mask this is the only mask that I have found works for me. Slept 8 hours for the first time, no leaks, no events, id just does not get any better than this. Thank you so much!
Something New and pretty good
Written By: John R, Florida 9/22/2016
I tried this mask twice and was not happy with it on the first try but gave it more time on the second try. I am now very happy with the results. The unique shape helps with an issue I have with other full face masks which is that they tend to crown my eyes (narrow face structure I guess) and blow air in my eyes. This mask eliminates that claustrophobic feeling between the nose and eyes. I'm also getting great readings from my data card regarding event metrics and leaks. I should lop off at least one star for the ridiculous price. On a price basis I'd probably give it 1 star. But it's working well, so I'm going to continue with it. It's worth a try if you have issues with other full face masks.
leaks whith facial hair
Written By: don, mn 9/20/2016
The mask works great and I was quite happy with it untill fall rolled around and i let my beard grow out a little longer. The mask leaks a little now when it didnt leak at all before. The amount of leak is not bad at all and it still works great.
100% mask fit

I need a chin strap, but this is the best full face hybrid I have used Very low AHI, under .5 and usually above 98% mask fit.
Got me through

Facial injury prevented me from wearing full face Mirage mask for several weeks. This let me sleep through the nights although it wasn't good rest - was always exhausted and irritable. No problem with headgear. Size was fine but frame just didn't fit well. Performance seemed to degrade rather quickly over a few weeks. Anyway, got back to Mirage mask and started getting much better rest. I think this might work better on a flatter/square type face bone structure.
Great mask, awful headband
Written By: Chappyware , New Jersey 5/17/2016
Great mask but the headband makes it unusable. What idiot designed the buckle to sit over the left side of your head. Sleep on your left side and first you get a dent. Next the buckle causes an abrasion and finally it gets infected. Left side sleepers avoid this at all costs.
Great mask type for a great price

Recently got a resmed air fit f10. Worked well but would not fit my odd nose shape, so resp therapist showed me an Amara View. It worked fantastic, however i got a cushion that was too small. I tried ordering one on line, one size bigger. I stumbled across Directhomemedical.com and found them they have great prices here for good quality parts!
Most comfortable mask yet
Written By: RLeonard, Kentucy 2/7/2016
This mask is more comfortable than my nasal masks and because it covers my mouth also, I never have to worry about my allergies or nose congestion again. When that happens with a nasal mask you end up with a terrible night of leaks and poor therapy. I have only used this mask 2 nights but, 2 nights in a row with and AHI below 1 and absolutely no leaks whatsoever...zero, nada, nein, none! I will never go back to my nasal masks. You really need to take a serious look at this innovation from Resperonics.
Best full face CPAP mask
Written By: Johanne, MD 11/14/2015
I have been using a CPAP for many years, first with a nasal mask, then had UPPP surgery and then had to go to a full face mask. My main problem with the couple of full face masks I tried over the years was air in my eyes causing dry eyes and air leaks. The Amara View Full Face mask is great in that it covers the smallest area of the face of all so is not near my eyes. Also rarely have air leaks and easily adjusted when I do.

I wanted you to know that I absolutely LOVE the Amara View Full Face CPAP mask ... I can use my glasses, my husband said it is less noisy and he can hear me when I talk ... it is so very comfortable and so very light on my face. I somehow found a website that showed this new mask and at once knew that I wanted to try and see if it would help me sleep better at night. I was so happy to see that Direct Home Medical had this on their website.
My previous masks were silicone which broke out my face ... and then I was offered the comfort gel blue which was so much more comfortable. However, the whole mask and frame was heavy on my face, I couldn't wear my glasses, the air was noisy and my husband couldn't hear me talk, and I just couldn't get a good night's sleep.
I Had High Hopes, but It's Too Uncomfortable and Leaks
Written By: Patrick, Florida 9/22/2015
I had (and still do have) high hopes for this Amara View. But after two nights of trying, I am giving up for the time being. Maybe need the Large size, although the guide placed me in the middle of the Medium size. Thinking of trying the Large size insert.
There are several problems:
1. While I am sleeping, my ResMed VPAP machine suddenly raises the pressure, and blows out the seal with a large squeal, waking me. It has never done this with another mask, so I am not sure what is going on, but I suspect the mask starts to leak, and then the machine tries to compensate.
2. The mask around the mouth puts too much pressure on my face, even at the lowest position of the straps. It is uncomfortable, but I have been able to get to sleep, until the mask blows out as in number 1 above.
3. The straps don't seem to be long enough, and on me, there is no slack at the largest extension. (I know there is a larger head strap option, but I went with the Standard size.)
My normal mask is a GoLife with a full head chin strap. I can pretty well tolerate the nasal irritation, but my mouth comes open, even with the chin strap, and then I have dry mouth and I know I am not getting the best treatment.

I have been a CPAP user for over twelve years and have gone through my share of masks that I have tried. For the most part, some of the concepts have looked interesting, but the results have usually been disappointing. For most of the past seven years, my go-to mask has been the ResMed Mirage Liberty. But, when I decided to grow some facial hair (mustache and goatee) last year, that mask began to fail me. Since then, I have tried the ResMed AirFit F10, the F&P Simplus, and the Quattro FX, all resulting in excessive leaks and a "sad face" every morning on my new ResMed AirSense 10 Auto CPAP machine (wonderful product as well!!!). While I've only used the Amara View briefly, I have awakened every morning to a "smiley face" on my CPAP machine because I had a great seal. Even with facial hair, I get a great seal!!!!! This mask is soft, small, and I would recommend it to everyone that requires a full-face mask. I doubted the seal would be good on the innovative nose cushion, but my doubts have been laid to rest. OK, pun intended! :)
Not for me
Written By: John, Nebraska 7/27/2015
Iíve been using a full face mask for nearly 15 years. Iíve fought breakouts and sores on the bridge of my nose for much of that time so I was really interested in trying the Amara View.
For me, I just canít get it to consistently fit well enough and Iíve gone back to my old mask.
I found that it was really challenging to maintain a seal over my cheekbones unless I tightened the straps to the point of being uncomfortable or slept solely on my back. Often times when rolling to a side Iíd lose the seal. Jaw movements also caused me problems. It seemed that the mask wasnít quite wide enough to adequately cover my mouth area. Maybe I just needed the large size but the gauge indicated medium was the correct size for me.
Perhaps it was psychological but I frequently felt like my nose was running when trying to fall asleep. I also had difficulties with the elbow not fitting tightly to the mask, creating an air leak unless the mask and elbow were in just the right position. Consequently, I found myself waking up frequently thinking I had a bad seal to my face. Sent an email to Phillips Healthcare for advice about elbow leak; No response after two weeks.
I think it is a great idea, just not for me.

I HAVE TRIED 4 DIFFERENT MASKS THIS IS THE BEST YET
Written By: Darrell, Texas 7/7/2015
I had pre-ordered this mask and it just came in so I have not used it a lot yet but so far, this is the mask that I have been looking for. I have tried a lot of other masks and could never seem to find one that worked but this one did. Since the top of this mask rests against your nose, that keeps the mask from sliding up my face like almost all the rest of them do. I tried the nasal pillow and hybrid masks but they left my nose sore and would not stop the hybrid masks from creeping up my face. I did find I do open my mouth at night so I needed the full face type mask but if the masks slides on you, then I would wake up with the mask resting above my bottom lips and would be all dried out. This Amara View adjusted very easily. I think I tried to make it harder than it needed to be, my thinking it had to take more adjustments but it didn't for me. The mask over my mouth stays in place and is not real wide like some of the other hybrid masks so as I lay on my side, it is not leaking air. About the only thing that I didn't know when I ordered it is they offer the standard head straps or an optional headstrap but I didn't know what that meant but the standard one works for me.
