Description

Transcend EZEX Mini is a premium CPAP with EZEX pressure relief for comfort. It is compatible with all CPAP masks and includes a wide pressure range, adjustable ramp, therapy tracking, a universal power supply, and automatic altitude adjustment.

EZEX PRESSURE RELIEF TECHNOLOGY
Like C-Flex from Respironics or EPR from Resmed, the Transcend EZEX offers pressure relief for comfort. Transcend EZEX delivers a more natural breathing experience by decreasing therapy pressure at the end of each breath, reducing the amount of resistance experienced during exhalation to improve overall therapy comfort. There are four EZEX settings -- OFF, 1, 2 and 3 -- that progressively increase the amount of exhalation pressure relief from none to a maximum of approximately 3CM.

WHISPER QUIET OPERATION
Unique air bearing blower technology eliminates heat and friction in the Transcend EZEX so it can deliver vibration-free therapy at a whisper quiet 26.6 dBA sound level.

^faqs~
  • When I turn on my Transcend the therapy air comes out very strongly; it keeps getting stronger for about 15 seconds and then the machine just shuts off. What am I doing wrong?
It sounds like you do not have the Universal Hose Adapter properly installed on your unit. For proper operation the Universal Hose Adapter MUST ALWAYS be in place on the Transcend CPAP machine when Standard or Performance CPAP Tubing is used without the heated humidifier.

  • I just received my new Transcend and it smells a bit "hot" like it's burning when I turn it on. Is there something wrong?
In rare instances the Transcend CPAP may give off a mechanical or "hot" smell when it is first run. This is a remnant of the manufacturing process and should go away once the machine has been run for a few hours.

  • How much pressure relief does EZEX give during exhalation?
Each of the four EZEX settings -- OFF, 1, 2, 3 -- corresponds to the equivalent CM pressure drop during exhalation: OFF (no relief), 1 (1CM relief), 2 (2CM relief), 3 (3CM relief). For example, if your machine is set to deliver pressure at 12CM and EZEX is set at 3 the pressure will decrease to approximately 9CM on each exhalation.

No problem setting up crap and humidifier. However, pressure was high and could not ramp up or down. Did not like at all. The reason for the 3 stars is the great customer service at Direct Medical. Really 5 stars for customer service and 2 stars for the machine. Returned for refund.

I cannot believe that I lugged my 10lb+ CPAP machine all over the world. This machine is so light and efficient it's hard to believe. When I first saw it, I doubted it would work well. But it's as effective as my 10lb+ machine. And, when I opened the box I saw that it came with 3 different electrical plugs so I didn't have to carry an electrical socket adaptor for the country I was going to. Now that I'm back, I'm using it in my beach house and throwing the old bulks black box I had away. I'm really grateful to the person who designed it. The electrical wires and box are also as light as a feather. You can carry it in your pocketbook.

If you're looking for a very small convenient and compact machine, this is the one for you. But it's very very noisy- works great once your asleep but I found it difficult to fall asleep.

Great service and when I called for advice I was connected with knowledgeable staff who helped me decide which travel CPAP would best meet my needs. I highly recommend this company.

I purchased this as a travel CPAP when my previous (now no longer manufactured)Everest II travel CPAP malfunctioned. When I first began searching, the Transcend model had the poorest patient reviews but two others (ZZZPAP & PureSom) had good reviews. Unfortunately, by the time I placed my order, these two were also no longer manufactured and there was no other choice for a small travel CPAP. It's obvious this manufacturer has no understanding of the needs for a small, portable CPAP. For some reason, they made the opening for the hose smaller than the standard hose size and you need an adaptor which then magnifies the noise considerably at the face making it very difficult to fall asleep, although the CPAP itself without the hose attached is very quiet. They also have no lighting for the tiny, hard to feel control buttons so you have to keep the lights on to turn it on and also if you get up at night, which awakens your bed-partner. They also have no rubber "feet" on the bottom so it slides across the bedstand pulled by the hose whenever you turn over in bed and falls on the floor--I see they have a "cradle" you can purchase to set it in but for more $! They also built the transformer into the wall plug...they obviously haven't slept in many hotel rooms as most have very few wall sockets and in order to fit the transformer into it you have to unplug every other hotel appliance! They included a few international adaptors to place in the wall plug/transformer but unfortunately none for the two countries I'll be visiting and the transformer is too heavy to plug into a standard international adaptor. The electrical cord also is too short for the distance between most hotel wall sockets and the bed. Not mentioned in the online description is information in the owner's manual which states you need to run the CPAP for a half hour after using it to dry it out...this is certainly a problem if you are using it as a travel CPAP. I presume this only is if you are using it with humidification (why would you need to dry it out if not using humidity?) but the manual doesn't specifically mention this. Finally, the travel case they have doesn't even have room for your face mask much less the large humidifier so you have to transport these separately or use a different larger case which defeats the purpose of a small travel unit. About the only positive thing with this unit is that it is very small and lightweight, but this is far outweighed by the other deficiencies. However, it seems there is no alternative for a small unit currently. It would certainly be nice if in the future manufacturers would actually discuss designs with users before they market a machine.
